PHB sets up at the port two cranes for the loading of fertilizers in Abu Dhabi

PHB, an engineering firm based in Gijón and belonging to Grupo TSK is setting up two loaders for a fertilizer production plant in Abu Dhabi to export bulk urea and sacks and urea to China and India.

The goal of setting up these cranes at the Port of Gijón, instead of transporting them part by part to their final destination is saving time. The Company Ruweis Fertilizer Industries (Fertil), under the control of Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Company and also the Italian Oil Company Total, is currently expanding one of the biggest fertilizer production plants in the world. In 2009 Fertil contracted with the Korean Company Samsung Engineering the expansion project of their urea and ammonia production plant for 1.2 billion dollars.

Then, Samsung subcontracted with PHB the construction of the two cranes currently being set up at the Port of Gijón, as well as a reclaimer.
